By Small Things

I really have nothing to do at work and so I am sitting here reading scriptures and that is reason for all the scriptures. I could be posting news about the credit crisis and the economy (scary) or why you should not vote for Obama (that is coming) so this is way better.

Alma 37:41-42 - Alma is telling Helaman about the Liahona

41 Nevertheless, because those miracles were worked by small means it did show unto them marvelous works. They were slothful, and forgot to exercise their faith and diligence and then those marvelous works ceased, and they did not progress in their journey;
42 Therefore, they tarried in the wilderness, or did not travel a direct course, and were afflicted with hunger and thirst, because of their transgressions.

I totally feel like my life right now is verse 42. I have no direction, motivation, inspiration and I don’t know where I want to go. I’m not starving yet but it seems like that is coming. I also know that I have not done any of the things in verse 41 short of going to church but I really have a bad attitude about it. The Lord doesn’t ask us to do big things. That is the hard part. If he told you that you had to do something really difficult before you would be blessed we would probably be more likely to do it. It is by small things that great works are accomplished. He only asks us to pray, read, serve, teach, have charity, and love each other. If we do the small things we will receive great blessings.

Hi! I loved this most recent scripture post. I've been kind of down lately and this vertigo thing is driving me crazy. I really need to focus on what I can do to make my life better and let the doctors hopefully under the divine inspiration of Heavenly Father worry about the rest. See you tomorrow!
